The Daily Show Season 31 Episode 104
September 22, 2026 - Tom Morello
Desi Lydic dives into the headlines as Trump’s press ban leaves him speechless - literally, without a mic. “AI” is out and “super intelligence” is in, his new label for humanity-threatening tech. At the U.N., he praises AI, picks fights with other countries and CNN, and barely registers with delegates - though he still gets to bro out with Zohran Mamdani. Former mob enforcer John Alite proves anyone can run for office: after serving time for “every crime you could think about”, he became an Englishtown, New Jersey, councilman. Josh Johnson asks whether his criminal résumé fuels public service or makes his redemption story too good to be true. Grammy winner Tom Morello joins Desi to discuss his heavy solo album, “Everyone Gets Everything They Want”, writing with his son Roman, the Power to the People festival, and how his late activist mother, Mary, taught him that every guitar riff can be resistance.
